Loudoun Economic Development and Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) School Nutrition Services are excited to announce the launch of the 2025 Farmer Trading Card Program. This annual initiative continues to connect students with the farmers who grow their food, encouraging healthy eating habits and sparking interest in local agriculture.

The program highlights the diversity of Loudoun’s agricultural community, featuring farmers who produce everything from traditional grains and vegetables to specialty garlic, fruit, dairy (hello, local ice cream!), and cutting-edge hydroponic crops.

“Farmer Trading Cards are a fun and engaging way to teach children about where their food comes from and introduce them to the incredible people who make our local food system thrive,” said Buddy Rizer, Executive Director of Loudoun Economic Development. “By connecting students directly with these farmers, we’re not just promoting agriculture—we’re inspiring the next generation to appreciate fresh, local food and consider careers in the industry.”

Through videos filmed by the featured farmers, students learn firsthand about the importance of agriculture, the different types of farms in Loudoun, and the many career opportunities available in the field. By hearing farmers’ stories, students develop a deeper appreciation for the hard work that goes into producing the food they eat every day.

“Nutrition education is a key part of what we do, and this program is an incredible way to show students how their food gets from the farm to their plate,” said Elizabeth Frimpong, Wellness Coordinator of LCPS School Nutrition Services. “When children understand and appreciate where their food comes from, they’re more likely to make healthier eating choices. The Farmer Trading Card Program helps us make that connection in a fun and memorable way.”

In addition to collecting trading cards, students and their families will have the opportunity to meet the farmers featured in this year’s collection at the Loudoun Made, Loudoun Grown Theme Night during a Loudoun United game at Segra Field on Saturday, May 10. During halftime, the farmers will be honored on the field and will autograph their trading cards, giving children a unique chance to interact with this year’s Farmer All Stars. This year’s featured farmers are:
