Loudoun County is home to more than 1,200 farms, each with its own backstory, unique product profile, and friendly farmers who call it home.

Of those, more than 230 have joined the Loudoun Made, Loudoun Grown program, making the commitment to producing, making or supplying products made right here in Loudoun County, Va.

Here are the stories of just a few of the farms that call the Loudoun Valley home.

JK Community Farm is a nonprofit farm in Loudoun County dedicated to connecting volunteers with farming opportunities, and producing 100% organic fruits, vegetables and protein for donation to hungry families.

FUN FACT

More than 12,000 Loudoun volunteers have become farmhands at JK Community Farm, helping produce more than 500,000 lbs of healthy produce for the food-insecure.

Biodiversity of Flora and Fauna

Thanks to mild weather and bountiful food, Loudoun farms are home to plants and animals from every inhabited continent!

A number of Loudoun farm animals, including bison, alpacas, llamas and some breeds of horses originally hail from North and South America. Australian emus have also called Loudoun farms home.

Many farm animals also draw their roots from Africa, including cows, chickens, ducks, donkeys, guineas. Just don’t be surprised if you also see ostriches when visiting Loudoun farms!
