Exciting Lineup for Loudoun’s Fall Farm Tour Weekend October 21-22, 2017

Every family needs a farmer. Do you know yours? The 2017 Loudoun County Fall Farm Tour is a chance to meet and support your farmers and stewards of the land and experience Loudoun’s $800 million agricultural industry, from research to alpacas to orchids, and farmers markets to goat cheese!

“For many, the Fall Farm Tour has become a family tradition that allows all to sample the many aspects of our rural economy that are #LoudounPossible,” says Loudoun Economic Development’s Executive Director Buddy Rizer.

Families from all around the Washington area and beyond can explore more than 50 farms and venues during this year's event, being held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, October 21 and 22. A map with sample itineraries is included in the Loudoun Fall Farm Tour brochure, available now at county libraries, Visit Loudoun, and online at: LoudounFarms.org/FarmTour.

“Again this year, we've tapped Loudoun business Param Solutions to create the ‘Loudoun Farms’ app that not only gives info about all the participating farms, but can also help build a custom itinerary for the weekend, with driving directions you can follow from venue to venue,” said Agricultural Development Officer Kellie Hinkle. The app is available in both the Apple App and Android stores.

Sites will have special activities for the weekend, ranging from tours and interactive displays and demonstrations, to live farm animals. Enjoy mouth-watering produce right off the vine, and take home delicious, farm-fresh food and treats! In addition to visiting farm venues on the tour, adults can choose to add another element to the weekend by referring to the list of 56 craft beverage venues in the brochure. Please contact the wineries, breweries, distilleries and cideries directly to learn about their pricing, specials and hours.

Ten of this year’s participating farms are pet-friendly, and three are new to the tour: Sweet Piedmont Flowers in Waterford; Wisdom Spaces in Round Hill, and Fields of Flowers in Purcellville. All the venues are free to visit; many offer food, drinks and products for a fee. Find details at LoudounFarms.org/FarmTour.
