Purcellville gears up for third annual Wine and Food Festival

For the third year, Purcellville is hosting The Wine and Food Festival July 19, highlighting the town's local businesses and rural economy.

Last year's festival drew over 5,000 people. This year, the festival location is being moved to Fireman’s Field to offer more convenient parking and a comfortable tree-shaded setting. For their convenience, those over 21 will be able to present ID and receive a festival wristband to allow for wine tastings throughout the festival area. Local vendors will be selling food and about 20 vineyards have signed up to sell wine by the glass or the bottle.

Organized by the town to draw people into the downtown area, the festival is sponsored by local businesses such as Catoctin Creek Distillery, Harris Teeter, Magnolias at the Mill, Dulles Motor Cars and Fuog Interbuild.

New this year, the festival is selling VIP tables and reserved picnic spots. Families and friends can reserve a VIP café table with seating for six at $100. Included with the table is a bottle of red and bottle of white wine, reserved seating for the entire event and goodie bag. These tables offer exclusive seating for viewing both festival stages. In addition, a picnic area can be reserved for $65, which includes one bottle of wine and goodie bag with spaces reserved throughout the park. Attendees may purchase food, art, accessories, wine glasses or bottles and wine tastings will be a minimal charge.

Among the participating wineries include 8 Chains North, 868 Estate Vineyards, Bogati Bodega, Corcoran Vineyards, Fabbioli Cellars, Hidden Brook Winery, Lost Creek Vineyards, Loudoun Valley Vineyards, North Gate Vineyard, Notaviva Vineyard, Otium Cellars, Cardamon Family Vineyard, Mattaponi Winery and Willowcroft Winery.

Attendees will find plenty of seating, and people are encouraged to relax and enjoy some good food and music.

Food vendors offering a variety of food from their menus include Fun Country Kettle Corn, Good Grubbin, The Randy Radish, Reata BBQ, The Roving Italian, The Grapevine Food Truck, The Wine Kitchen and What the Pho.

The Purcellville Wine and Food Festival is Saturday, July 19 from 4 to 9 p.m. For table or picnic area reservations, contact Melanie Scoggins, event specialist, at mscoggins@purcellvilleva.gov, 540-751-2350
